Dr. Shafik Sachedina is a dental surgeon who was born in Tanzania. He is a graduate of the University of London’s Guy’s Hospital Medical and Dental School.
For several years after graduating in 1970 he practiced as a dental surgeon in the United Kingdom. It was in 1985 that, along with his business partner Shiraz Boghani, he founded Sussex Healthcare LLC. He serves as the company’s joint chairman.
Sussex Healthcare is a company that offers a home to those who cannot care for themselves. This might be due to Dementia, other neurological disorders, learning disabilities, or age-related. They have a total of seven facilities in Sussex and its surrounding communities. Dr. Shafik Sachedina is also a philanthropist who has donated his time and expertise to a number of different causes. Among these is the Aga Khan Jamati Institutions to which he has volunteered. His role is to help the Ismali community coordinate in all of the 16 areas that they live in. This includes his working with other organizations helping this group of people such as the Institutions of Ismaili Communities in Central Asia and the Aga Khan Development Network Programs.
Under Dr. Shafik Sachedina’s leadership Sussex Healthcare recently opened a new facility within close proximity to Horsham in West Sussex. This new facility offers its residents a number of services designed to meet both their mental and social needs. It is for younger people who have learning and physical disabilities, such as autism. It has a 24 hour staff on hand plus a specialized gym and a full schedule of activities for residents to do. Dr. Shafik Sachedina has made sure the residents are well cared for by hiring a professional staff and giving the residents a life that is as close to normal as is possible given the situation.
Beyond his role at Sussex Healthcare, Dr. Shafik Sachedina has also been a director for another firm Imara U.K. Limited, since May 1997. This company invests in a number of African countries such as South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. The funds that they offer are available to those who live in Africa. They offer funds that includes stocks, bonds, and in one fund both of these assets.
